Earlier this year, one of my best friends invited me over to her house. It has made a VERY deep impression on my soul.
No, no one died in that slumber party. You guys should watch less t.v.
Haha, there goes my attempt at being funny.
Anyway what really impressed upon me was the delicious Shahi Tukray her mother had cooked for us.
I have eaten enough desserts to expertly declare them world class!
So this one evening in July, when I started craving that beautiful thing, I honestly could not bring myself to actually try to make it.
Reasons: Laziness and incompetence
Google Shahi Tukray and this stupid-ass, Urdu-Angrezi website writes, "It is a dessert that resembles the bread pudding."
Keeping my love for bread puddings aside, BOOO!
G NAI.
Shahi Tukray are a 1000× better.
But kher, I opted to go for the MUCH easier Bread Pudding.
As I always say, microwaves rule.
They are these small, magical, beautiful, box-shaped heavenly creatures!
Is there anything that microwave cannot cook? No, unless you don't know how do make it.
By the way, I should warn against trying to boil an egg in the microwave, it will explode!
Bread puddings are perfect guilt free (comparatively) comfort food. Eat it warm or cold, it is a always a mouthful of satisfaction.
It is not only bread and eggs, you can add dates, nuts or almonds depending of course on your taste buds and the availability of ingredients.
Its most attractive thing is the use of daily use ingredients.
I mean, who doesn't have eggs and milk in their home?

MICROWAVE DATE BREAD PUDDING:
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Refrigerate overnight *optional
Serves 4 persons
You need:
8 slices of old, stale bread (Please, not too old and moldy)
2 cups milk
5 large beaten eggs
1 cup granulated sugar (white or brown)
1/2 stick unsalted butter
1 cup dates, chopped
Procedure:
1- In a large bowl, mix sugar, eggs and milk. Mix well.
2- Break the bread into small pieces and line the baking dish with it.
3- In a small bowl, crumble together the dates and the butter. Pour it over the bread base.
4- Pour the egg mixture over the bread, you will see the bread floating over the liquid.
5- Microwave for 10 mins until the bread crust is toasty and dates are sticky, toffee like.
Okay, you can eat now.
Or you can cool it well and then eat it. But I personally cannot resist long enough to cool it down.
Sadly, it tastes better when cold, so I would recommend it.
Up next week: SALTED CARAMEL SAUCE IN 6 MINUTES
Watch out for that and you may as well serve your pudding with it! :D
Happy Eating!
Very good at being funny. *claps slowly* I like cooking buy sadly not a big fan of sweets. I am a karva insaan. And not a big fan of microwave cooking too. I prefer the stove more. But baking is cool. I love making pizzas.

DeleteNot all of us have the luxury of using a stove. Microwave is easier to use.
